Business Sectors (Aluminium Hydroxide, Auminium Oxide, White Fused Alumina, Tabular Alumina), termasuk Deskripsi umum Produk Aluminium hydroxide obtained from bauxite by the Bayer process. Aluminium hydroxide has the chemical formula Al(OH)3 or Al2O3.3H2O. It comes in white crystalline powder form and has the mineralogical nomenclature gibbsite (also known as hydrargillite). Aluminium hydroxide is stable up to about 200oC, but it breaks down into anhydrous Aluminium oxide and water at temperatures beyond that, to cause a large amount of heat to be absorbed. It also reacts with strong acids and alkalis to yield aluminium salts and aluminates. As can be seen from the table in the lower half of the following page, aluminium hydroxide has a wide range of applications. To fit the specific requirements of different applications, it is supplied in some characteristics: Standard, Low Electric Conductivity, High Whiteness, Viscosity Optimized Compound, Precipitated Hydrate Grades – Super Fine, Heat Proof Grade, and Surface Treated Products. A white crystalline powder, alumina is obtained by calcining aluminum hydroxide. Although there are many variations of alumina crystals, the one that is the most stable and accordingly most widely used is α-alumina. It has a high melting point, is thermally stable, and ranks next to silicon carbide, boron carbide and diamond in hardness. Moreover, it has high electric resistance and is stable against acids and alkalis. α-alumina consequently serves in broad range of application, including refractories, insulators, spark plugs, IC boards and packages, grinding and polishing materials, and heat and chemical resistant porcelains. Available are different types of alumina, each having its α-ultimate crystal size and particle size distribution and its impurities content controlled to meet the particular requirements of such applications.
